Predicting Winners of Top 5 European Football Leagues
After a long winter break, league football has started once again. And like most football fans, I couldn’t be happier. Be it La Liga, the English Premier League, or the Bundesliga, every major league in Europe is in bloom.
Football fans know that the matches become more intense post-Christmas. It’s because the final matchday comes nearer and every time give out their heart to sway results in their favor.
In this article, I’m going to be a bit analytical and explore which team is going to come out on top in their league.
Also, if you’ve missed the live-action for any reason till now, do not miss the remaining half as every matchday is going to be a nail-biting one. Plus, do ensure you have the right connectivity so buffering does not interrupt your live streaming. As for me, I’ve subscribed to Spectrum as they offer high-speed internet – perfect for seamless streaming. Plus, the TV service offers numerous channel options. You can check Spectrum deals, in case you’re looking for reliable internet/TV options.
Now, let’s start with La Liga, shall we?
- La Liga – Spain:
Over the years, three major teams have dominated La Liga; Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid. And this year, we haven’t seen any major difference in the league table till now with Real Madrid leading the charts followed by Atletico and Barca respectively.
Some people would argue that Real Madrid has peaked at the right time, and I agree. It’s because, since the start of La Liga 24-25, Real Madrid had trailed Barca and Atletico. And now, with almost 20 matchdays, they’re on top of the table.
If Barca and Atletico Madrid do not up their game in the latter half of La Liga, I believe Real Madrid will easily bag this year’s La Liga trophy.
- English Premier League – England:
Unlike La Liga, the English Premier League (EPL) has never been a three-horse race. Although Manchester City has dominated the EPL in the last few years, there have been a few teams that came closer to winning the trophy.
That said, we’ve witnessed a totally different picture where Manchester City is nowhere to be seen. On the other hand, Liverpool is sitting comfortably at the top with a few games in hand, followed by Arsenal.
Following Arsenal is Nottingham Forrest which has been the dark horse this season as they’re currently at third with a game in hand. That said, I don’t believe they would pull out a season like Leicester when they won EPL as Slot’s Liverpool is going to win this year’s EPL easily.
- Bundesliga – Germany:
After a disappointing season last year, Bayern Munich has been back on top in the Bundesliga. On the other hand, Bayer Leverkusen who played tremendously under Xabi Alonso is trailing Bayern Munich. And, as the season progresses, it would be interesting to see how Bayern Munich would protect their narrow lead over Bayer Leverkusen.
That said, I honestly don’t believe Eintracht Frankfurt has any chance of winning the Bundesliga this year. It’s because they’ve got some pretty tough fixtures coming ahead and it may take a herculean effort or simply a miracle to come out on top of such fixtures.
Moreover, Dortmund’s performance isn’t the same in the Bundesliga as it has been in the Champions League, and at best, they may end up in the top 4 this year. And as far as predicting who’s going to win Bundesliga this year, I believe Bayern wouldn’t let Bayer humiliate them like they did in the previous season.
- Ligue 1 – France:
Over the years, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) has thoroughly dominated Ligue 1. And, it’s been the same case this year. With no such team to compete or even give them tough competition, PSG is steering clear to win another league title this year.
That said, I believe Marseille might give PSG a run for their title if players like Mason Greenwood continue with their exceptional form. Moreover, it would also be interesting to see if PSG rest their A-squad players in the upcoming league matches for Champions League nights. Simply because PSG’s journey in the Champions League’s group stage hasn’t been a smooth one yet. And, they might very well be eliminated if their slump continues in the Champions League.
Nonetheless, PSG may win this year’s Ligue 1 with Marseille finishing second on the points table.
- Serie A – Italy:
Serie A has been one of the most interesting football leagues in Europe this year. It’s because you never know which team is going to come out on top. This year, Napoli is leading the league table which finished 10th last year. Behind them is Atalanta, who’s played exceptional football in the Champions League group stage till now.
The Milan clubs; Inter and AC Milan have fairly disappointed their fans with mediocre performances. But ruling them out of the title’s contention would be totally wrong as both the clubs have the squads to climb the league table.
Nevertheless, my prediction is that either Napoli or Inter Milan is going to win the Serie A this year. And Atalanta might bottle their second place because they’ve got some tough away fixtures in the coming months.
